Season 1 of Netflix’s twisted, Groundhog Day-ish Russian Doll was a treat, even if it made your head feel like it had been put through a washing machine spin cycle. That was in 2019, and we’ve had to wait a long time for more, so it’s exciting to see that the program will return for a second season next month. Take a look at the new teaser:
Season two will continue to examine existential themes via a hilarious sci-fi lens, four years after Nadia (Natasha Lyonne) and Alan (Charlie Barnett) fled mortality’s time loop together.
This season finds Nadia and Alan exploring further into their pasts through an unforeseen time vortex found in one of Manhattan’s most infamous sites, discovering a destiny far terrible than unending death. They first see this as an ever-expanding, era-spanning, intergenerational adventure, but they quickly realize this amazing occurrence may be more than they bargained for, and they must work together to find a way out… Yes, we think it’s an excellent idea. Start the spin cycle!
Russian Doll will be returning on our screens on April 20th, with Lyonne in command of much of the show (albeit still collaborating with Leslye Headland).
