The previously unnamed Knives Out sequel will be titled Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, as revealed by Rian Johnson.
In the sequel to the Netflix smash hit, Daniel Craig will resume his role as the master investigator Benoit Blanc. Edward Norton, Janelle Monáe, Leslie Odom Jr., Kathryn Hahn, Jessica Henwick, and Madelyn Cline with Kate Hudson and Dave Bautista round out the film’s cast.
Detective Benoit Blanc sets out to Greece in the second installment of the series to crack a fresh mystery involving a fresh cast of colorful characters. Under the umbrella of their firm, T-Street, Johnson is in charge of developing the screenplay, directing the film, and producing it along with Ram Bergman.
Knives Out was distributed by Lionsgate in 2019, grossing $311.4 million on a $40 million budget. Johnson, who was nominated for an Oscar in 2020 for the Knives Out screenplay, started work on the script immediately after the release of the first picture. In a staggering $469 million deal, Netflix acquired the rights to two sequels and a franchise-ready film. The sole conditions of the agreement were that Daniel Craig must star in the sequels and each must have a budget at least equal to that of the 2019 film.
