Anthony Hopkins, a two-time Academy Award winner for Armageddon Time, has joined the cast of Zack Snyder-directed Netflix sci-fi film Rebel Moon.

The film Rebel Moon picks up in a peaceful colony on the edge of the galaxy that is threatened by the armies of the tyrannical Regent Balisarius. In response, the colony sends a young woman (played by Sofia Boutella) with a mysterious past to seek out warriors from neighboring planets to help them make a stand against the Regent’s forces. Jimmy is a JC1435 mechanical war robot with impossible sentience who was once the King’s last line of defense before he was killed. Hopkins will provide the voice for Jimmy.
As previously revealed, the cast also includes Charlie Hunnam, Doona Bae, Djimon Hounsou, Ray Fisher, Cary Elwes, Stuart Martin, Alfonso Herrera, Corey Stoll, Michiel Huisman, Ed Skrein, Jena Malone, Cleopatra Coleman, Charlotte Maggi, Fra Fee, Rhian Rees, E. Duffy, Sky Yang and Staz Nair.
Hopkins is a legendary actor who took home his second Academy Award for his portrayal of a man with dementia in Florian Zeller’s Sony Pictures Classics movie The Father last year. Next, he will appear in James Gray’s coming-of-age drama Armageddon Time, which premiered to critical acclaim at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival, as well as Rick Dugdale’s thriller Zero Contact, Zeller’s upcoming film The Son, and Matt Brown’s drama Freud’s Last Session, in which he portrays the founder of psychoanalysis.
