Peter Dinklage, who stars in Marvel’s Cinematic Universe as Eitri the Dwarf, has disclosed his return in Thor: Love And Thunder. Eitri, played by Dinklage, is responsible for creating some of the MCU’s most formidable weaponry. He was in charge of designing Thor’s (Chris Hemsworth) legendary hammer, Thanos’ (Josh Brolin) Infinity Gauntlet, and, most recently, Thor’s ax, Stormbreaker. Thanos killed Eitri’s fellow dwarves following the building of Thanos’ Gauntlet. While Thanos permitted Eitri to survive, he took away his ability to use his hands. Eitri was able to create Stormbreaker with the support of Thor, Rocket Racoon (Bradley Cooper), and Groot (Vin Diesel) in order for Thor to have a weapon capable of destroying Thanos.
Despite the fact that Eitri’s efforts were fruitful and Thor was successful in contributing to the defeat of Thanos during the events of Avengers: Endgame, owing to Stormbreaker, it is still unclear where Eitri is. He was last seen in Infinity War on Nidavellir, a weapons foundry deep in space, however, given that he is the last remaining member of his species, it is odd to conceive of Eitri being there by himself for the whole of the movie. Despite the fact that Eitri has a cordial enough relationship with Thor to suggest that the God of Thunder may have moved her, Thor is now away on adventures with the Guardians of the Galaxy, and the two are thus not currently in the same place. Due to the fact that Thor is still in the company of Rocket Racoon and Groot, it is possible that the four of them may team up following their effective joint efforts in Infinity War.
Dinklage replied to questions about what his future role is in store in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in an interview. Despite the fact that he was unable to provide any specifics—or even formally acknowledge his involvement with any forthcoming films—Dinklage went out of his way to express his understanding that the fourth Thor movie is in the works. See the following for the entire statement from Dinklage:
“Umm, well there’s another Thor movie there, isn’t there, that’s coming out? That Taika’s directed? What – I didn’t say anything. I didn’t say anything. What? What?”

Dinklage’s comments, in which he praises the expansion of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) to include television series as well as movies, hint that his return as Eitri in Thor: Ragnarok maybe soon. While Thor is well-equipped with his new ax, Stormbreaker, another character may seek the services of Eitri’s weapon-forging skills. Natalie Portman has revealed that she will be returning to the Thor franchise as Jane Foster in Thor: Ragnarok, and that she will also be taking on the role of Mighty Thor in the next film Thor: Ragnarok. It is unknown how or why Portman’s Foster will be returning to the franchise to take on this new identity as a female version of Thor, but it is probable that her presence will have a long-lasting influence on the franchise. Foster will also be shown in the film carrying Thor’s hammer, which has been verified. During the events of Thor: Ragnarok, Thor’s hammer was shattered by his sister, Hela (Cate Blanchett), who was also in the film. Perhaps Foster will go in search of Eitri in order to repair Thor’s shattered hammer.
With Dinklage’s tease of Eitri’s likely return to the MCU, the possibilities for what Eitri will accomplish in the film are limitless. Eitri’s previous involvement with powerful weapons implies he may be back to assist Jane Foster’s Mighty Thor in getting a weapon deserving of the power she is about to acquire. Eitri, on the other hand, may make a return in order to rejoin Thor, Rocket Raccoon, and Groot. Due to the release of Thor: Love and Thunder in theaters on July 8, 2022, we will not have to wait long for answers about Eitri’s likely comeback and his involvement in the film, which will be revealed soon.
