A Quiet Place Part III is officially underway, with a release date of 2025 set as a target for completion. The announcement was made by filmmaker John Krasinski on Tuesday during a Paramount investor day. There has been no announcement of a director or writer, however, it appears that Krasinski would be an obvious candidate.
Since its debut in 2018, the A Quiet Place brand has established itself as a crown jewel for Paramount, which is now developing a spinoff directed by Pig filmmaker Michael Sarnoski based on an idea from Krasinski for release in 2023. It was the first Quiet Place, developed in collaboration with Bryan Woods and Scott Beck, that catapulted the filmmaker into the ranks of Hollywood’s A-list directors. It received overwhelmingly positive reviews and grossed $340.9 million worldwide.
A Quiet Place Part II, written and directed by Krasinski, will be released in May 2021 and will be the first tentpole to be released solely in cinemas following a months-long closure due to the coronavirus outbreak. It earned $297 million worldwide, which was a great result considering the pandemic.
The Quiet Place films are set in a universe where the Earth has been overrun by horrible aliens that are blind and rely on sound to locate their prey. The films are based on the novel of the same name by Stephen King. Krasinksi co-starred in the first installment with his real-life wife, Emily Blunt, then appeared in the second installment as a cameo. Noah Jupe and Millicent Simmonds are the actors that portray their on-screen children.
If, Krasinski’s next feature film, will be released in 2023 and will star Ryan Reynolds and Steve Carell, among other actors. Krasinski also stars in and produces the Paramount Pictures movie, which is hitting theaters.
