The official trailer for Orphan: First Kill, eOne and Dark Castle’s upcoming prequel to the 2009 horror movie, has been dropped by Paramount. It is set to premiere on August 19 in select cinemas, through video-on-demand, and on Paramount+.
The video hints at the impending return of Isabelle Fuhrman’s frightening character Esther. It teases the first family she would attempt to fool, posing as the long-lost daughter of an affluent couple.
William Brent Bell is at the helm of Orphan: First Kill from a script written by Dave Coggeshall. Isabelle Fuhrman will reprise her role as Leena Klammer/Esther, who deceives a mourning family in the previous film by acting as a nine-year-old girl while being a 33-year-old woman with a rare hormonal illness.
In addition to Fuhrman, the prequel also stars Golden Globe-nominated Julia Stiles, Rossif Sutherland, and Hiro Kanagawa.
In 2009, Jaume Collet-Serra made his directorial debut with the film Orphan, which was based on a script written by David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick. It featured Peter Sarsgaard and Vera Farmiga.
