One Piece Film: Red is still a runaway movie office hit. This week, the anime film has already made over 12 billion yen!
The information was announced on Twitter by the One Piece staff account along with another picture of the new female lead, Uta.
At the Japanese box office, the anime One Piece Film: Red has maintained the top place for a fourth consecutive weekend (via Anime News Network). The film made 1,209,188,020 yen (about $8.732 million) this week alone from Friday to Sunday. The movie’s weekend ticket sales of 832,000 were also verified.
One Piece Film: Red has already sold over 8.2 million tickets, totaling 11,454,050,370 yen (about US$82.70 million). Given that the film has only been in Japanese cinemas for a month, this is quite an accomplishment.
For the time being, the figures solely apply to the Japanese box office. However, there is little question that One Piece Film: Red will dominate worldwide theaters when it is released later this month.
One Piece Film: Red follows Uta, the world’s most popular singer. She resolves to disclose herself to the world at a live event after making a reputation for herself without revealing her identity. As the stadium fills with various types of Uta supporters, the world will realize that Uta is Red-Haired Shanks’ daughter.
On August 6, 2022, One Piece Film: Red was released in Japanese theaters. The worldwide release dates have been established for the fall of 2022.
