One Piece Film: Red has accomplished yet another milestone in Japan a few weeks after its premiere.

The movie’s production company revealed during a recent event at the Marunouchi Toei theater that the movie has already made over 8 billion yen (about $58.9 million) at the Japanese box office (via Anime News Network) and sold over 5.7 million tickets in its brief run in theaters. Even though the movie has only been in theaters for around two weeks, it has already surpassed previous installments in the franchise in terms of both ticket sales and box office receipts.
Additionally, the movie has been exceeding all other movies at the Japanese box office, where it maintained the top rank over the whole of its opening weekend and made 2.254 billion yen ($16.7 million) from 1.58 million tickets sold.
Even though One Piece Film: Red debuted a day later than One Piece Stampede did, the film outperformed Stampede’s predecessor in its first two days of release, earning 78% more than Stampede did in its first three days.
