Fox announced today that the successful food competition Next Level Chef has been revived for a second season. Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay hosts the show, which will air the last episode of its first season Thursday evening.
In Next Level Chef, Ramsay, together with chefs Nyesha Arrington and Richard Blais, coaches three teams of budding cooks through a series of cooking tasks. After each task, one chef is removed, leaving just three chefs to compete for a $250,000 reward and a one-year mentorship with Gordon, Arrington, and Blais. The winner of Season 1 will be determined this evening, when the three remaining contestants cook three distinct dishes in under ninety minutes, utilizing the three shops of the stage designed just for the event.
Competitors can choose from a variety of equipment and ingredients on each floor of the Next Level Chef stage. Each floor, which ranges from a dingy basement to a posh restaurant kitchen, has its own theme and was designed to put wannabe chefs’ ability to adapt and prepare impressive meals under a variety of conditions to the test. In today’s finale, each chef will have to move through all three stores to demonstrate their ability to cook in any setting.

Rob Wade, President, Alternative Entertainment & Specials, Fox Entertainment, remarked of the renewal of Next Level Chef:
“We’re always thrilled when a new series resonates with audiences, but in this case, we’re doubly so, because this one was the first to come out of our new venture with Gordon and Studio Ramsay Global. We’d like to thank our partners at Studio Ramsay Global , and, of course, Gordon, our talented chefs and our amazing crew, for an epic Season One. And we know Season Two will continue to be ‘next level’ television.”
“With viewers as enthused about the new program as we are, we can’t wait to showcase another bunch of really brilliant chefs in season two,” Gordon said of the renewal. Gordon will spend the next several months combing the country for the greatest line cooks, home chefs, social media stars, food truck owners, and everything in between to identify the next batch of contestants for Season 2 of Next Level Chef.
