It is only 1 month away from Ms. Marvel‘s release date in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and Marvel Studios has just dropped a brand-new trailer showcasing more of the titular heroine’s cosmic superpowers. With Moon Knight having come to a close last week and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness causing a worldwide sensation at the box office, the focus is already shifting to the next MCU story, which will see the introduction of another new young superhero, Kamala Kahn, in the form of a female superhero.
Iman Vellani portrays Ms. Marvel, a Pakistani-American high school student who comes into touch with a mysterious relic that grants her extraordinary cosmic abilities. In the comics, Kamala’s heroic status is tied to her Inhuman DNA; however, it has been rumored that the television series would alter the origin of her superpowers. However, as the latest trailer reveals, she is still able to employ her talents to transform her physique, including forming her comic-book-style huge fist. Take a look at Ms. Marvel one-month trailer below:
While earlier footage hinted at this, the new trailer makes it quite obvious that this will be an old-fashioned origin narrative, with Kamala acquiring her abilities and having to come to grips with them. A plot like this hasn’t been done in the MCU for a long time with many of their newly introduced characters already having their abilities established or at the very least having utilized them prior to their initial on-screen debut. However, although this may result in a slower series start when compared to shows that just dump viewers into an instant action situation, it may also prove to be the kind of respite that the MCU needs.
