A first look at the Addams Family members who will appear in the series Wednesday has been released by Netflix. The streaming service posted a black and white image of the main Charles Addams cartoon characters on social media.
With a serious face and recognizable braids, Jenna Ortega, who plays the title role, dominates the family. She was accompanied by Isaac Ordonez, who plays her brother Pugsley, Catherine Zeta-Jones, and Luis Guzmán, who play Morticia and Gomez.
A tweet from the Con Todo Netflix account gave viewers a deeper look at Guzmán’s persona and referred to him as a “national treasure” for “his humor, charm, skill, and varied 40-year acting résumé.”
The Wednesday series on Netflix is described as a detective-driven, supernaturally tinged mystery that follows Wednesday Addams throughout her years as a student at Nevermore Academy. While negotiating her new and extremely complicated connections at Nevermore, Wednesday tries to control her developing psychic gift, stop a horrific killing spree that has devastated the neighborhood, and investigate the mysterious enigma that captivated her parents 25 years ago.
Tim Burton directed the coming-of-age dark comedy, which was written by Al Gough and Miles Millar.
Gwendoline Christie, Hunter Doohan, Christina Ricci, Joy Sunday, Georgie Farmer, Emma Myers, Riki Lindhome, Percy Hynes White, Naomi Ogawa, Jamie McShane, and Moosa Mostafa are among the other cast members announced for Wednesday.
In Barry Sonnenfeld’s Addams Family, Ricci plays Wednesday. She will be back as an unknown character.
