Will Smith is still suffering from the repercussions of his Oscars slapping over comedian Chris Rock. A new Smith-led National Geographic nature series has been recently reported to be put on hold.
However, the article’s author Lucas Shaw rushed to Twitter to clarify his position that “Netflix has abandoned” plans for a Bright sequel and that the incident is “unrelated” to the Oscars.
Bright is a Netflix original series that revolved around two police officers, Daryl Ward (Will Smith) and (Joel Edgerton), in an alternative world where humans, orcs, elves, and fairies have coexisted since the dawn of time. While battling adversaries and their own personal conflicts, they must defend a young female elf and a long-forgotten relic to fall into the wrong hands, which have the potential to destruct the world.
Before Bright 2 was put on a halt, Netflix confirmed that Smith’s Fast and Loose had been delayed as well, but emphasized that the delay was not related to the Oscars event, but rather was due to director David Leitch being engaged in another project.
Bright, starring Will Smith, is still available to stream on Netflix.
