Morbius, starring Jared Leto, bombed again at the box office after a re-release prompted by viral memes.

In April, Sony Pictures released Morbius, the latest installment in their Spider-Man Universe spinoff film series based on villains, after suffering from a number of setbacks. The Jared Leto-led film has gotten negative reviews from reviewers and underperformed at the box office. Due to the film’s negative response, it has become the subject of a sarcastic internet meme, with the fabricated phrase “It’s Morbin’ time!” going viral on the Internet.
This weekend, Sony Pictures will re-release Morbius in over 1,000 cinemas due to viral memes. Unfortunately, this resulted in another box office failure for the Jared Leto feature, which grossed just $85,000 on Friday, June 3.
Morbius has already racked up $73.6 million at the domestic box office and $163.4 million internationally. Compared to Tom Hardy’s two Venom films, the Jared Leto picture has obviously underperformed, and Sony’s expectations for a sequel to Jared Leto’s Spider-Man picture seem to have been shattered a little.
Morbius has returned to cinemas, is now available digitally, and will be released on DVD, Blu-ray, and 4K UHD on June 14.
