Moonfall, directed by Roland Emmerich, has just dropped its trailer. This new Halle Berry action tells us a story of an unusual team who are on a mission of saving the Earth as the moon is off its orbit and heads directly towards our home. Dir. Emmerich is considered to be the household name when comes to sci-fi thrillers, as many epics in this genre are directed by him such as Independence Day and The Day After Tomorrow. Based on his previous works, huge spectacle equipped with magnificent CGI and brainy one-liners are all in the realm of expectation. The upcoming Moonfall also stars Patrick Wilson, John Bradley, Michael Peña, Donald Sutherland, and Charlie Plummer.
The opening scene of the trailer showcases a conspiracy theorist K.C. Houseman (Bradley) figuring out that the moon has gone astray from its orbit. Together with an astronaut (Wilson), the duo tries to warn NASA of this horrendous event. We then get introduced to a NASA Executive, Jo Fowler (Berry), who realizes that AI is at play, and audiences are given the first glimpse of a creature that looks somewhat identical to black swarms of worms. The story carries on with the journey of these three characters teaming up to rescue mankind.
Moonfall is written by its director Emmerich, together with screenwriters Harald Kloser and Spenser Cohen. The blockbusters of the apocalypse franchise, 2012, is the example of Kloser and Emmerich’s collaboration; whereas Cohen co-wrote Netflix’s sci-fi flick Extinction. Hence it can be agreed that both writers seem undeniably suitable for this project. Halle Berry seems to kick off 2022 with this starring role in a big-budget blockbuster, in addition to directing and starring in a new Netflix show, Bruised, and she will next appear in Netflix’s sci-fi drama, The Mothership, planned to also be out this year.

Considered to be a big shoot for this year’s cinema, Moonfall is worth for movie lovers to get truly excited about going to theaters. More promotion plans and teases are expected in the future.
Moonfall plays in theaters on February 4.
