Oscar Isaac‘s excellent performance as both Marc Spector and Steven Grant in the current MCU series Moon Knight is one of the standouts, as he was able to readily separate the two characters for the viewer despite having the same look, especially on occasions where they shared the same frame. So, how did the program manage to pull them off so well?

Marvel has published a behind-the-scenes video for Moon Knight, detailing how they were able to film Oscar Isaac playing both Marc and Steven at the same time.
According to VFX supervisor Sean Faden, they employed a variety of tactics, including CGI, having Isaac‘s brother stand-in for the actor’s other part, and having Isaac‘s brother use an earphone to hear his performance.
Due to the nature of the sequence, Faden also said that the bathroom mirror scene at the conclusion of the first episode was their most challenging set-up in the series.

The amount of effort that the VFX team put in to pull off the various sequences in the series that have Marc and Steven together in one frame is incredibly remarkable to witness and read about. Even without viewing the footage, it’s clear that the show’s VFX crew had a difficult time putting these sequences together, and they needed Isaac’s acting help to make them appear perfect.
From a viewer’s viewpoint, Isaac‘s work as both Marc and Steven appeared seamless, which testifies to his outstanding performance in the series, as it is difficult to portray two separate characters in the same scene or frame. Thanks to the VFX crew, they were able to pull them off without any technical issues throughout the series, which greatly enhanced the viewing experience and culminated in Isaac‘s well-known performance.
