The production of Mission: Impossible 7 has been significantly difficult, partly due to the current pandemic, but it seems the movie is finally back on track. The movie, with Tom Cruise as the lead actor, a sequel of 2018’s Mission: Impossible – Fallout, will be released in 2022 after several delays and a troubled production. However, as the franchise has continued to be successful, both critically and commercially, prediction is still rolling out about this sequel.

Much like the franchise’s prequels, the new movie also stars the well-renowned Tom Cruise as IMF superspy Ethan Hunt. Mission: Impossible movies have been known for their stunning stuntwork with Cruise constantly putting his own life on the line for the scenes to look as authentic as possible. The director of this sequel is the talented Christopher McQuarrie, who has been praised for his work in two Mission: Impossible movies. The production has traveled across the globe, incorporating several locations as Rome, Norway and the UK.

Though Mission: Impossible 6 was remarkably well received, fans had to wait a long time for the next movie. Due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic during the production, the filming was delayed significantly, placing tremendous stress on the filmmakers’ shoulders. The movie was in fact held up as an acid test for the making of movies in a post-pandemic world. This pressure as well as reputation of the Mission: Impossible franchise has explained the incredible interest the movie receives. Below is what fans can expect from Mission: Impossible 7.

    Returning and New Cast

The new Mission: Impossible movie features both returning and new actors. Tom Cruise, as he did in the previous six movies of the franchise, will be in Mission: Impossible 7. He will be joined by the returning Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Rebecca Ferguson, Vanessa Kirby and Frederick Schmidt. Especially, fans will be excited about the return of Henry Czerny as Eugene Kittridge, the former IMF Director. Besides, the movie also stars Hayley Atwell, Cary Elwes, Indira Varma and Mark Gatiss.

    Movie Details Anticipation

The filming of Mission: Impossible 7 is kept secret, therefore little is known about its storyline. However, from the previous film of the series, fans can make some guesses. It is likely that the new movie will be a turning point for the franchise as Ethan and his colleagues managed to thwart Soloman Lane (Sean Harris), due to the previous outing. It is also revealed that Esai Morales will star as an unknown villain, giving the clue of a new arc.

Explanation of Controversy Around Movie’s Production

It is possible that the controversy around the movie’s production has caused such scrutiny. An example is how producers were criticized in 2020 for allegedly planning to blow up a history bridge in Poland, which led to a lawsuit against Cruise and McQuarrie. Furthermore, Paramount, the movie’s production company, was caught in legal action against its insurance provider as it failed to pay compensation for production postponements. The Mission: Impossible sequel has had a number of issues even before the complications brought out by the COVID-19 pandemic.

    Release Date

Despite several delays in release date, Mission: Impossible 7 is now set to premiere on September 30, 2022. Previous release dates included July 23, 2021, November 19, 2021 and May 27, 2022. The movie will arrive on streaming service Paramount+ 45 days after it hits the box office.
