Lots of fans will get frustrated to hear that the release date of Mission: Impossible 7 is delayed for the fourth time, but this decision may also be the reason the movie could be the best one. The 7th Mission: Impossible installment will be joined by world famous Tom Cruise and director Christopher McQuarrie, the individuals behind some of the most amazing stunts and action scenes in the history of this movie genre. The coming movie is filmed back-to-back with its sequel, Mission: Impossible 8, and promisingly will include the return of several side-characters from the six prequels.
The 7th and 8th movies of the Mission: Impossible franchise are set to premiere in 2021 and 2022 respectively. However, the breakout of the pandemic as well as the project’s ambitious scale forced Paramount Pictures to postpone the movie’s premiere four times. The most recent delay was for one more year. Paramount’s announcement of the latest postponement is read in a public statement:
"After thoughtful consideration, Paramount Pictures and Skydance have decided to postpone the release dates for Mission: Impossible 7 & 8 in response to delays due to the ongoing pandemic. The new release dates will be July 14, 2023, and June 28, 2024, respectively. We look forward to providing moviegoers with an unparalleled theatrical experience."
Eager fans are disappointed to receive a one-year delay in Mission: Impossible 7’s release date, especially when they have been waiting for quite some time. However, let’s look at the bright side of this. First, that Paramount is postponing the movie for another whole year instead of a few months shows its faith in this project. It’s clear that the studio wants to release the movie into the summer megahit movie season, believing it will shine in that competitive season of the year. The studio’s executives must have seen some footage that assures their confidence to release Mission: Impossible in summer instead of pushing it out a bit earlier into a less popular season for movies.

In addition, the movie’s one-year delay is to ensure the stunts will be… stunning. It is reported that Tom Cruise’s motorcycle stunt in Mission: Impossible 7, which includes a great ramp and jump, was the most dangerous of the actor’s career. But the movie consists of many more great stunts. Part of an old bridge in Poland was blown up for another stunt in the film. And even when most of the stunt work is done, the additional year will grant the post-production teams time to perfect the VFX quality, making sure it goes flawlessly smooth with the stunts. The Mission: Impossible’s has a reputation for jaw-dropping action, but this 7th installment seems to even outshine its prequels.
Moreover, a list of fan’s favorite characters, such as Kittridge, will rejoin in Mission: Impossible 7, as well as the participation of well-known actors, such as Hayley Atwell, will certainly intrigue fans. All of these factors are contributing to Mission: Impossible 7’s specialness. Of course, after nearly two years dealing with the pandemic, it can really piss fans off to see the most expected installment being delayed again. However, it is understandable to give Cruise and director McQuarrie as much time as they need to make Mission: Impossible 7 the greatest show of this long-standing franchise. The Mission: Impossible franchise is among the most astounding ones in the last 25 years, and it can be expected that this sequel will push the quality bar even higher.
