Michael Keaton will take on the main role and be in charge of helming the noir thriller Knox Goes Away, written by Gregory Poirier and produced by Nick Gordon, Trevor Matthews of Brookstreet, Ashley Zalta, and Michael Sugar of Sugar23. Carter Stanton is executive producer for Brookstreet, while Jillian Kay is behind the production for Sugar23.
It is a story about a contract assassin who is given the chance to redeem himself by saving his estranged adult son’s life after being diagnosed with a fast-moving type of dementia. But in order to do it, he must race against both the cops closing in on him and his quickly failing mental condition.
ICM Partners and Verve Ventures represent domestic rights together. FilmNation Entertainment will be responsible for foreign sales in advance of this year’s Cannes Film Festival. In late August, the film will be shot in Los Angeles.
Michael Keaton has received some of the ravest praise of his career for the Hulu limited series Dopesick, which has already earned him SAG and Critics’ Choice Awards and is certain to put him in the running for an Emmy nomination this season. In the Warner Bros. film The Flash, he will also resume his role as Bruce Wayne aka Batman.
