Men, featuring 2022 Oscar nominee Jessie Buckley (The Lost Daughter), will be released in cinemas on May 20. A24 has released a complete trailer for Alex Garland‘s anticipated horror picture Men.
In the aftermath of a personal catastrophe, Harper (Buckley) travels alone to the lovely English countryside in the hopes of finding a place to recover. However, she looks to be being followed by someone or something from the nearby woods. What starts off as a nagging concern grows into a full-fledged nightmare, populated with her deepest memories and worries.
The cast of Garland’s picture, which he wrote and directed, is completed by Rory Kinnear and Paapa Essiedu. It was produced by Allon Reich and Andrew Macdonald of DNA.
Garland got his first Academy Award nomination in 2016 for his writing movie Ex Machina, which he also directed for A24. He went on to direct the 2018 picture Annihilation, as well as write, direct, and executive produce the Hulu series Devs.
On the heels of Men for Civil War, the action epic starring Kirsten Dunst (The Power of the Dog, The Beguiled), Wagner Moura (The Shining Girls, Narcos), Stephen McKinley Henderson (Dune, Bruised), and Cailee Spaeny, the filmmaker just revealed that he’d be reuniting with A24 (The First Lady, Mare of Easttown). Garland will direct the picture, which will be set in a near-future America and will be based on his own screenplay. The plot of the film is being kept private. A24 will create, alongside Andrew Macdonald and Allon Reich of DNA and Gregory Goodman, and manage the film’s global release.
Buckley will also be featured in Sarah Polley‘s drama Women Talking, which will be released soon. The first trailer for Garland’s Men may be seen below.
