Warner Bros. revealed Tuesday evening at CinemaCon that their star-studded Barbie — starring Margot Robbie — will swoop into cinemas on July 21, 2023.
Robbie is taking on the role of the fashion-forward doll. She was at the top of a long list of contenders that included Ryan Gosling, Will Ferrell, and Simu Liu, as well as Alexandra Shipp, Kate McKinnon, Emma Mackey, and America Ferrera.
Greta Gerwig and Noah Baumbach are the film’s co-writer, with Gerwig serving as the director. Production has begun.
While plot specifics are being held inside a Malibu dream home, insiders say that the proceedings may include a meta element. Ferrell is reportedly portraying the CEO of a toy firm that may be Mattel.
