A new start date for production has been set for Mahershala Ali’s Blade flick.

Daniel Richtman, a Hollywood source, claims that Blade will now start production on May 30, 2023. Eric Brooks, played by Mahershala Ali, is a vampire hunter whose voice could be heard during the second post-credits scene in the Marvel Studios film.
Yann Demange, the director of White Boy Rick and ’71, is helming Blade. He is using a script by Michael Starrbury, one of the authors of Ava DuVernay’s Netflix series When They See Us, as his source material. Prior to leaving his position, Bassam Tariq was slated to direct the film but was unable to do so due to schedule issues.
Blade had a cast that included Delroy Lindo, Aaron Pierre, and Milan Ray before its creative revamp. It’s unknown if the performers are still involved in the film, whose production was initially scheduled to start in November 2022.
Blade is being produced by Blade veterans Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, and Eric Hauserman Carroll. Even though he was removed from the director’s chair, Bassam Tariq is anticipated to obtain an executive producer credit on the film.
The current release date for Blade is September 6, 2024.
