Isabela Merced will co-star with Dakota JohnsonIn in Sony Pictures’ Madame Web. Sydney Sweeney and Celeste O’Connor are also on board for director S.J. Clarkson. Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless co-wrote the script, with Kerem Sanga contributing to an earlier draft.

In the comics, Madame Web is shown as an old woman with myasthenia gravis who was attached to a spiderweb-like life-support system. Due to her age and physical condition, Madame Web never actively engaged in combat with any criminals. For this reason, insiders have emphasized that the project may evolve into something different. According to insiders, she is effectively Sony’s equivalent of Doctor Strange because of the psychic sensory abilities she has. Unknown is Merced’s involvement in the picture.
Sony is gaining traction with Venom: Let There Be Carnage racking up over $500 million worldwide, while Spider-Man: No Way Home was a record-breaking film of 2021, with worldwide sales of $1.85 billion.
