The production of George Miller’s upcoming action prequel starring Anya Taylor-Joy, Mad Max: Furiosa, is now underway, and the first behind-the-scenes images from the Australian set of the film have finally hit the web. Even though none of the film’s main protagonists is revealed through the photos, Furiosa photos give us our first glimpse at the film’s vast setting and the set pieces. In addition to that, a bunch of not-yet-revealed post-apocalyptic bikers may also be seen.
Furiosa is billed as a stand-alone tale that will delve into the origins of the figure previously taken on by Charlize Theron before crossing paths with the mothership franchise’s namesake antihero. Golden Globe winner Anya Taylor-Joy, Tom Burke, and Chris Hemsworth are set to star in the film.
In addition to serving as co-producers alongside Doug Mitchell, George Miller is on board as director and writer of the prequel to Mad Max. The Kennedy Miller Mitchell banner of Miller is also involved in the production.
Even though the movie had a dismal turnout at the box office, with a worldwide gross of over $370 million, Mad Max: Fury Road was a critical success. Critics praised its cinematography, production design, and the performances of Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron, who both had a rough time during filming. In addition, it took home six Oscars out of a total of ten nominations, including Best Film Editing, Best Production Design, and Best Costume Design.
