The Love & Death teaser trailer for the new true crime drama, based on the true story of suburban housewife-turned-axe killer Candy Montgomery, has been released by HBO Max. On April 27, the series is slated to premiere.
The clip gives us a sneak peek at Elizabeth Olsen‘s comeback to television in 2021, which will come after the critical triumph of Disney+’s WandaVision. Olsen plays Candy Montgomery, a character who begins an affair with the spouse of a friend.
Two couples who attend church will be the focus of Love and Death as they enjoy small-town family life in Texas—until someone grabs an axe. Proof of Love: A Real Tale of Passion and Death in the Suburbs, as well as a selection of stories from Texas Monthly (“Love & Death in Silicon Prairie,” Part I & II), are the sources for this piece.
The limited series stars Elizabeth Olsen as Candy Montgomery (WandaVision), Jesse Plemons as Allan Gore (Jungle Cruise), Lily Rabe as Betty Gore (American Horror Story), Krysten Ritter as Sherry Cleckler (Jessica Jones), Patrick Fugit as Pat Montgomery (Outcast), Keir Gilchrist as Pastor Ron Adams (Atypical), Elizabeth Marvel as Pastor Jackie Ponder (House of Cards), and Tom Pelphrey as Don Crowder
David E. Kelly (The Undoing) is the author and executive producer of the film Love and Death, and Lesli Linka Glatter (Mad Men) is slated to helm it. Glatter, Nicole Kidman, and Per Saari of Blossom Films, Scott Brown and Megan Creydt of Texas Monthly, Matthew Tinker, Michael Klick, and Helen Verno are the executive producers. The short-lived series will be produced by Lionsgate.
