Disney+ has taken the Marvel Cinematic Universe to the next stage with its new episodes portraying several of the universe’s most beloved characters, and Loki has proven to be one of the most entertaining thus far. Fans have been waiting with bated breath for any word on the second season since the first concluded in July, and it appears that we will not have to wait long since season two is scheduled to begin filming soon. As reported by The Wrap, the actor Owen Wilson, who portrays TVA Agent Mobius on the program, has confirmed that the production process of the second season of the show is underway.
During his recent WIRED “Auto-Complete Interview,” in which he answered the most frequently googled questions about himself, Wilson was asked the question “Is Owen Wilson returning to Loki?” Wilson said affirmatively. “Yes, he is returning to ‘Loki,'” the actor said after initially being hesitant to reply. “Yes, he is coming back to ‘Loki. And I think we’re gonna start filming that pretty soon. I had a great time working on ‘Loki.’ I really enjoyed Tom Hiddleston and all the people on that.”
This should delight fans because Wilson was one of the show’s most endearing characters, and it seems likely that he would return given the cliffhanger that the episode ended on. The new season is still kept under wraps, but the last time we saw Loki, his other half Sylvie betrayed him, causing the literal timeline to be wiped out entirely. In season two, Loki is sent back to the TVA, where he finds himself in an alternative universe where he and Mobius did not become friends. It would be intriguing to watch how the series develops their connection in season 2.
It will also be interesting to see what is different about this new timeframe Loki has found himself stuck in and how other relationships, such as Mobius’s with Gugu Mbatha-Ravonna Raw’s Renslayer, compare to their TVA versions from season one. It has now been revealed that Mbatha-Raw will be back for season two, so anticipate the same timeline and variation insanity that we knew in the show’s first season.
Tom Hiddleston’s Loki was already a popular character due to his numerous Marvel Cinematic Universe appearances, but Loki comes as a surprise to a lot of people with its well-balanced storyline that included heart, humor, tragedy, and deep themes about loving ourselves on the inside.
