The first teaser for Joker: Folie à Deux has been made available online, confirming Lady Gaga’s involvement and the movie’s release date of October 4, 2024.

Since the premiere of the first movie, fans have been clamoring for a Joker sequel, but it wasn’t always apparent if director Todd Phillips or actor Joaquin Phoenix were interested in making one.
When the team hinted that a sequel dubbed Joker: Folie à Deux was in the works earlier this year, speculations quickly spread that Lady Gaga was in discussions to play Harley Quinn. Gaga’s participation has now been confirmed by the first teaser.
While the first teaser doesn’t explicitly indicate that Joker: Folie à Deux will be a musical, it gives some signs that the movie will be heavily influenced by music.
Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga’s silhouettes can be seen dancing to the song “Cheek to Cheek” in the teaser, which confirms their participation in the Joker sequel. Lady Gaga’s dance with the Joker appears to validate reports that she would be playing Harley Quinn even if the teaser does not specifically identify the character she will be portraying.
Here is the first trailer for the Joker movie:
In the 2019 film Joker, which featured Joaquin Phoenix busting some moves, bizarre dance performances served as mirrors for Arthur Fleck’s mental decline. According to the trailer, Folie Deux will maintain this theme and expand the genre-bending style of the previous movie to a comic book movie.
The revelation that Joker: Folie à Deux is on track for its 2024 release will be great news to many DC fans after a week that saw Leslie Grace’s Batgirl canceled and the future of numerous DC projects at Warner Bros. Discovery brought into doubt.
Joker, directed by Todd Phillips and starring Joaquin Phoenix, Zazie Beetz, Glenn Fleshler, Robert De Niro, Frances Conroy, Brett Cullen, Bill Camp, Marc Maron, Douglas Hodge, Josh Pais, and Shea Whigham, is based on a screenplay by Todd Phillips and Scott Silver.
On October 4, 2024, Folie à Deux will be released in theaters, while Joker is currently available on 4K UHD, Blu-ray, DVD, and digital.
