Over the years, we’ve seen some fairly strange comic book film castings, but Lady Gaga‘s prospective entrée into the DC universe is something we never thought would happen. In case you missed it, the pop artist and actress is reportedly in final negotiations to portray Harley Quinn, the legendary DC villain (and occasionally anti-hero) in Todd Phillips’ Joker sequel, alongside Joaquin Phoenix, who has already confirmed his part as the Clown Prince of Crime.
The film, officially titled Joker: Folie à Deux, is also supposed to be a musical, which is likely why Gaga was cast in the role. But, to be fair to the multi-Grammy Award-winning singer, her acting career has also been great, which is why, for the most part, fans are enthused about her potential participation in the long-awaited DC elseworld production.
Gaga‘s followers and comic book film aficionados have already endorsed the 36-year-old singer on Twitter, and it’s safe to say that Gaga is off to a strong start at this pace. Let’s take a glimpse at the following reactions:
Given that the sequel is billed as a musical, it’ll be intriguing to see where Todd Phillips takes it. But, when you think about it, Joker 2‘s creative approach isn’t really off-brand because the first one is unlike any other comic book/superhero film we’ve seen. I’m confident that this one will take us all by surprise.
Joker: Folie à Deux is presently in development by Joker.
