The box office is flourishing thanks to James Cameron‘s Avatar: The Way of Water.

This past weekend saw the long-awaited release of Avatar: The Way of Water in cinemas, grossing 134 million in North America. The film’s global gross now stands at $441.6 million after earning an extra $307.6 million abroad.
The Way of Water, the follow-up to 2009’s Avatar, presently ranks behind Sam Raimi’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, which earned $442 million over the first weekend of May, as the year’s second-largest global opening. Every foreign market has access to The Way of Water, with the exception of Russia, where Hollywood releases are prohibited due to its invasion of Ukraine.
With a PG-13 rating and a runtime of 3 hours and 12 minutes, The Way of Water is around 30 minutes longer than the first installment of the Avatar series. Since it has a certified fresh rating on the review aggregation website Rotten Tomatoes, the sequel is well-liked by reviewers. It has a budget of between $350 million to $400 million.
The cast includes Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang, and Cliff Curtis. Joel David Moore, CCH Pounder, Edie Falco, Jemaine Clement, Giovanni Ribisi, and Kate Winslet are also among the cast members of James Cameron’s The Way of Water, which he also co-wrote with Josh Friedman.
