House of the Dragon’s second season is on the way!
Shortly after the premiere of its first episode, HBO’s Game of Thrones prequel series House of the Dragon received an official renewal for a second season.

Despite only recently premiering on HBO, House of the Dragon, a Game of Thrones spinoff about House Targaryen, has already been renewed for a second season. Although many fans were unhappy with the way Game of Thrones ended, there are undoubtedly great expectations for the prequel series to redeem the brand.
Even though there have always been intentions for House of the Dragon to have a second season, HBO has finally officially announced it.
The announcement of House of the Dragon‘s renewal comes after HBO announced record-breaking viewing figures for the first episode of the prequel series.
On Sunday, August 21, the House of the Dragon debut drew approximately 10 million people across HBO and HBO Max, making it the most viewed series launch in HBO history. Despite the fact that the series has only just begun, this outstanding debut and the Game of Thrones property’s inherent brand familiarity make it unsurprising that a second season has already been ordered.
A civil war between contenders for the Iron Throne known as the Dance of the Dragons is depicted in House of the Dragon, which is set around 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones. The book follows House Targaryen, the affluent house of Emilia Clarke’s Daenerys Targaryen from Thrones.
George R. R. Martin, who co-created House of the Dragon for HBO with Ryan Condal, is the author of the book Fire & Blood, which serves as the series’ inspiration. Currently under production by HBO are a Jon Snow-centered show and a prequel for the Sea Snake character played by Steve Toussaint.
House of the Dragon‘s co-showrunners and executive producers are Miguel Sapochnik and Ryan J. Condal, who work with George R. R. Martin. Matt Smith, Rhys Ifans, Paddy Considine, Steve Toussaint, Emma D’Arcy, Olivia Cooke, Eve Best, and Sonoya Mizuno are among the series’ impressive cast members.
