House of the Dragon Episode 1 has finally arrived, and the show wasted no time in keeping up with the Targaryens. The key characters and their allies in the Game of Thrones were quickly introduced to us by The Heirs of the Dragon. The first episode also gave us a glimpse of a fascinating Targaryen custom that pays respect to The Song of Ice and Fire of George R.R. Martin.

King Jaehaerys Targaryen convenes the first Great Council in the first scene of House of the Dragon Episode 1 to choose his heir. The king picked his grand nephew Viserys I Targaryen as his heir since there had never been a female monarch, despite the fact that his granddaughter Rhaenys Targaryen had a better claim.
King Viserys’ heir issue persists as he subsequently loses both his wife and son following a difficult delivery. Viserys must decide between his daughter Rhaenyra Targaryen and his brother Daemon Targaryen to be his heir because he lacks a male heir. Rhaenyra became the first possible queen of Westeros since Viserys finally decided against Daemon because of his unstable nature.
Viserys then pulls Rhaenyra away as he decides and shares a secret that has been passed down from every Targaryen king and heir with her. A prophesy concerning the Long Night and the hero who would bring all kingdoms together in a battle to rescue the world is revealed by Viserys.
Even if the battle against the White Walkers won’t start for another 200 years, it’s a great way to remind fans that The Song of Ice and Fire continues to have a significant impact on House of the Dragon.
Even yet, it’s incredible that the Targaryens were aware of the approaching catastrophe for all this time, but the knowledge was never passed on since Daenerys Targaryen’s father lost his mind before designating his heir, who coincidentally was also called Viserys (although he wasn’t particularly kind).
The Rogue Prince, the second episode of House of the Dragon, will air on HBO on August 28, 2022, at 9:00 PM EST.
