The forthcoming Game of Thrones prequel, House of the Dragon, has received a fresh new behind-the-scenes featurette from HBO. It revolves around the Targaryens during the height of their dominance in Westeros, a power that Daenerys has been attempting to recapture in Game of Thrones. The launch of the series is slated to be out on August 21.

The film, which you can see below, has commentary by cast and crew members discussing the scope and scale of the new drama. They also discuss the difficulties of producing a new story to fill big shoes.
The story of the Targaryens, the only family of dragonlords to survive the Doom of Valyria, is told in House of the Dragon, which is based on George R.R. Martin’s Fire & Blood. The events of the acclaimed television series adaption of Game of Thrones, which aired its final episode nearly two years ago, will occur 300 years earlier.
Matt Smith, Paddy Considine, Olivia Cooke, and Emma D’Arcy as Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen will star in the ten-episode series. Eve Best, Steve Toussaint, Ryan Corr, John Macmillan, Rhys Ifans, Sonoya Mizuno, Savannah Steyn, Emily Carey, Gavin Spokes, Milly Alcock, Graham McTavish, David Horovitch, Matthew Needham, Bill Patterson, Jefferson Hall, Wil Johnson, and Theo Nate will also be in the cast.
George R.R. Martin, Ryan Condal, and Game of Thrones director Miguel Sapochnik are behind House of the Dragon, with Condal and Sapochnik also serving as showrunners. Martin, Condal, Sapochnik, Vince Gerardis, and Sara Lee Hess serve as executive producers.
