Following the cancellation of Wonder Woman 3 and the potential recasting of the characters when Henry Cavill recently returned as Superman with an upcoming Man of Steel 2, the shake-up in DC Studios has reportedly caused a huge stir online. The current status of the project has reportedly been revealed.

Henry Cavill didn’t wear the cape for years, which caused people to wonder if he would return as Superman. Eventually, in the post-credits scene of Black Adam, he did. Along with this, a Man of Steel 2 is reportedly in the works.
At the time, everyone was jubilant that Henry Cavill would return as Superman and that a Man of Steel 2 was in the works. However, with the cancellation of Wonder Woman 3, several DC Studio projects are now in limbo and required clarification.
Clarification regarding the present state of Henry Cavill’s comeback as Superman and his follow-up, Man of Steel 2, has been unveiled via reports. It claims that there was already a push for Man of Steel 2 before Gunn and Safran took over as the heads of DC Studios.
The first film’s producer, Charles Roven, and a writer reportedly sent Warner Bros executives Michael De Luca and Pamela Abby a pitch for Man of Steel 2, but the executives didn’t like it and waited for Gunn and Safran to handle the situation.
This indicates that Man of Steel 2 was never given the all-clear, but it does not necessarily mean that the door is shut. Instead, the project will remain open until DC Studios receives a better plot idea, one that would fit into the studio’s bigger goal for the characters involved.
That said, Henry Cavill’s status as Superman is currently in limbo as well. However, this in and of itself does not rule out the possibility of Cavill playing Superman once more in future endeavors.
