On Wednesday, the first trailer for the HBO Original documentary The Princess was dropped, viewers an inside glimpse into the life of Princess Diana behind the scenes.

The documentary is slated to be out on August 13, 2022, which will also mark the 25th anniversary of Princess Diana’s tragic passing. Oscar nominee Ed Perkins (Black Sheep) is at the helm of the documentary. Among producers are Lightbox, together with Oscar-winning producer Simon Chinn (Man on Wire, Searching for Sugar Man, LA92) and Emmy-winning producer Jonathan Chinn (LA92).

Watch the latest ‘The Princess’ trailer and new poster below:

For over two decades, the Prince and Princess of Wales’ romance was tabloid fodder, making virtually daily headlines in the world’s 24-hour media cycle. HBO’s intimate and immersive new look at the former’s life uses only contemporaneous archival audio and video footage to transport audiences back to key events in Diana’s life as they occurred, including her seemingly fairy-tale public courtship and wedding, the birth of her two sons, her and Charles’ bitter divorce, and Diana’s tragic death on August 31, 1997, at the age of 36, on August 31, 1997. The picture unfolds as if it were in the present, enabling spectators to feel the overwhelming admiration, as well as the severe examination and frequent evaluation of Diana’s character. In addition, it acts as a mirror of contemporary society, expressing the public’s own concerns, worries, goals, and wants.
