Harrison Ford has struck a deal to take on the major role, alongside Jason Segel, in Shrinking, an Apple TV+ comedy series penned and executive produced by Segel and Ted Lasso co-creator/executive producer/showrunner Bill Lawrence and star/writer/producer Brett Goldstein.
Shrinking, produced by Warner Bros. Television, revolves around a bereaved therapist (Segel) who begins breaking the rules and telling his clients exactly what he thinks. Ignoring his expertise and principles, he ends up realizing himself making massive, dramatic changes to people’s lives…including his own.
Ford, who joins Shrinking after extensive talks, will portray Dr. Phil Rhodes, a down-to-earth, as sharp as a tack “blue-collar shrink” who is forthright but never without a grin in his eye. Phil is a pioneer in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy who has created a profitable practice over the years with the assistance of his two young protégés, Jimmy and Gaby. After being diagnosed with Parkinson’s, Phil is forced to confront invasive friends and his estranged family while also grappling with how to deal with the legacy that he leaves behind.
Shrinking is a Warner Bros. Television production in association with Lawrence’s studio-based Doozer Productions. Along with Jeff Ingold and Liza Katzer of Doozer, Segel, Lawrence, and Goldstein serve as executive producers.
Ford, who was most recently seen in the blockbuster The Call of the Wild, will reprise the lead role in director James Mangold’s forthcoming Indiana Jones 5. UTA and Ziffren Brittenham represent him.
