James Gunn‘s return as writer and director of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is one aspect that has been confirmed. Following the box office success of the first two Guardians of the Galaxy movies, Gunn was first tapped to helm the picture, but he was briefly removed from the project after some contentious tweets from his earlier career reappeared. Gunn was rehired for the project, though, following a public outcry from the Guardians of the Galaxy cast and fans. Due to his responsibilities to DC Studios, this movie will be his final Marvel film.

During the events of Thor: Love and Thunder and a James Gunn-directed holiday special on Disney Plus, the Guardians of the Galaxy were last seen. In addition to continuing the story of the titular group of misfits as they travel the galaxy and engage in combat with both new and recurring enemies, Vol. 3 is expected to expand on the events of the first two movies.
Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Karen Gillan, and Pom Klementieff are among the cast members of the third installment of the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise, which was written and directed by James Gunn. Other casts include Elizabeth Debicki, Sean Gunn, Sylvester Stallone, Will Poulter, Chukwudi Iwuji, and Maria Bakalova.
