On Twitter, director James Gunn teases the identity of a surprise guest actor who will appear in Guardians of the Galaxy 3. This is the third entry in the Guardians of the Galaxy series, which is part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The first film was released in 2014, bringing together the eclectic cast that fans have grown to adore. While Groot, Gamora, Star-Lord, Drax, and Rocket have appeared in previous Marvel productions, fans have been waiting for the third film since 2017, and with a year yet to go, they’re ready to learn anything new about it.
Throughout filming, Gunn has kept fans updated on the project in every way he could. Gunn recently tweeted about an ongoing prank on set that someone has been performing on him. Several Rick and Morty character keychains have taken up residence on the director’s video feed stand, although Gunn isn’t the one who placed them there. This innocuous hoax just keeps continuing as fresh pieces are added every day, and he still hasn’t figured out who is behind it.
Gunn provided his fans a delayed update on this tale because he was too busy filming an undisclosed guest star on the set of Guardians of the Galaxy 3 the day before. The filmmaker continues his post by informing fans that a second Rick Sanchez has been introduced, and then on to share his love for the series with fans in the comments. While the apparently deliberate placement of this guest star announcement might simply be a coincidence, it could be a hint that Rick’s (Justin Roiland) voice is used in the project. Many storyline specifics, like with most Marvel ventures, are still being kept under wraps. Gunn, on the other hand, has given fans some hints about what to anticipate from Guardians of the Galaxy 3. According to the filmmaker, this sequel would depart from the templates of the previous two films and portray a distinct, darker plot. Given the horrific events that occurred between Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and this future film, it’s understandable that they’re approaching this subject with a darker tone.
Guardians of the Galaxy has become recognized for its ability to blend comedy with calamity, so it is doubtful that the future picture will be devoid of fun. With that in mind, Roiland’s track record of contributing his voice to animated comedy would make him an ideal match for the rest of the group. Although Gunn’s mention of the guest actor might be unrelated to Rick and Morty and was only meant to tease a hidden character, it will be intriguing to see what type of appearance the celebrity will make in Guardians of the Galaxy 3.
