The CW made an effort with Gotham Knights to branch out from the Arrowverse by investigating Batman’s murder in a brand-new realm. But it appears that the only murder people are interested in is the one committed by the show’s detractors.
On March 14, Gotham Knights made its CW debut. Both critics and viewers immediately criticized the show. On Rotten Tomatoes, the show received a pitiful 18% of the reviewers’ approval, while the audience rating could only reach 51%. You should “Never send amateurs to do a Batman’s job,” the general consensus among critics seems to criticize the quality of the show.
These evaluations represent a new low for The CW’s DC Comics assets. Even though Gotham Knights isn’t a part of the Arrowverse, it’s impossible to avoid making comparisons when one notices that Constantine, the Arrowverse show with the worst ratings, is ranked more than 50% higher than Gotham Knights. Superman and Lois and Stargirl, two non-Arrowverse programs, are even better than Gotham Knights in terms of quality; the latter’s second season has a rating of 100% on the website. Gotham Knights may or may not receive a second season of television, but the general opinion does not look good for the show.
