Celeste O’Connor, who led the movie Ghostbusters: Afterlife, is going to break into the realm of comic books as she has been cast in the impending film Madame Web.
O’Connor‘s role in the upcoming film has still been kept under wraps, although she is expected to feature alongside Dakota Johnson and Sydney Sweeney, the former of whom is set to play the titular Madame Web in Sony’s Universe of Marvel films. Madame Web will be helmed by S.J. Clarkson (The Defenders, Jessica Jones) and written by Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless, who just penned Morbius.
Madame Web made its initial appearance in The Amazing Spider-Man #210 in 1980, created by writer Denny O’Neil and artist John Romita Jr. The character is a blind psychic who has risen to prominence in the Spider-Man universe owing to her connections to “The Great Web,” a multiversal structure that connects all “Spider” characters throughout the multiverse. Given that Spider-Man: No Way Home established the notion of the multiverse, it is possible that it may be expanded upon in the film Madame Web.
