Sony’s Columbia Pictures has set a release date for Garfield, the animated film in which Chris Pratt will voice the lasagna-loving cat. The film is set to hit cinemas on February 16, 2024.

In the animated film, Samuel L. Jackson voices a new character, Vic, who is Garfield’s father. Alcon Entertainment’s Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson serve as the producers, while Sony will be in charge of worldwide distribution (excluding China). The screenplay was written by Finding Nemo author David Reynolds, and Chicken Little director Mark Dindal is at the helm of the film.
In 1978, Jim Davis is the brain behind the comic strip character Garfield, a lazy orange cat that causes trouble for his human owner Jon Arbuckle and Jon’s dog Odie. The character became a cultural phenomenon after launching in 41 newspapers, and the comic strip retains the record for the most widely syndicated comic strip in the world.
This summer, Pratt will appear in Jurassic World Dominion and Thor: Love and Thunder. On the animation side, he is engaged to provide the voice for the famous video game protagonist Super Mario. He previously lent his voice to The Lego Movie movie and Onward by Pixar.
