Behold, Gen Z! To Catch a Thief is being rebooted.
First released in 1995, the classic directed by Alfred Hitchcock showed off spectacular views of Riviera, as well as Cary Grant’s undoubted charm and Grace Kelly’s icy blondness in her prime. It also includes a retired cat burglar tempted back to business after being blamed for a crime he didn’t commit – blah blah – together with the most sexually aroused fireworks display ever seen in cinema.
The remaking is in the early phase of production, but there has been confirmation of the appearance of Gal Gadot, more commonly known as Wonder Woman and recently starring in the Netflix’s original crime movie Red Notice with Ryan Reynolds and Dwayne Johnson. After that, the female star can be seen playing the Evil Queen in Disney’s live-action reboot of Snow White and in an adaptation of Death on the Nile (Agatha Christie).
Eileen Jones, the writer behind the script of To Catch a Thief remake, is best known for her work on Prodigal Son, a Fox series. Recently, she has agreed to write the script for the movie which is assumed to be significantly updated to attract the young generation of moviegoers who can’t tell Vertigo from Psycho. Gal Gadot, an actress well-known worldwide, could help with that.
The movie is being produced at Paramount, which also made the original version. Beside Gal Gadot, Jaron Varsano will also join the remake through their company Pilot Wave. Neal Moritz (Fast and the Furious) also stars in the movie.
Verse, Kaplan/Perrone Entertainment and attorney Todd Rubenstein at Barnes Morris are the representatives of Jones. For Gal Gadot, her representative is WME.
The reboot of To Catch a Thief was first reported by Deadline.
