
As production on Fast X continues, franchise star Vin Diesel confirmed on Instagram that Rita Moreno will be joining the tenth and second-to-last installment of Universal Pictures’ Fast & Furious franchise. The iconic actress, who will portray Toretto’s grandma, is shown to receive a warm welcome from Diesel and co-star Michelle Rodriguez in the video.
This is the next Moreno‘s move after his titular role in Steven Spielberg‘s adaptation of West Side Story. She will also be featured in the upcoming sports comedy film 80 for Brady opposite renowned stars Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin, and Sally Field.
The Fast films have proven to be among the most profitable IP in current studio cinema and are Universal’s most successful series. The films whirled up a collective box office gross of nearly $6 billion, with the most recent sequel, F9, raked in over $700 million, making it a hit by pandemic box office standards.
