Never put a man’s family in danger.

The Fast and Furious movies have always blended action with levity; they are as entertaining as they are action-packed, but the most recent trailer for Fast X, Louis Leterrier’s newest installment of the franchise, teases a darker and more somber direction for the Fast Family to take.
In a flashback-heavy montage-style teaser, scenes from all the previous Fast movies are shown, highlighting the emotional connection that Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel) and Letty Ortiz (Michelle Rodriguez) have shared over the course of the last 20 years, as well as the larger Fast family.
The eccentrically wicked Dante, played by Jason Momoa, sits above a city as a massive explosion occurs, with Letty and Dom at its core. A furious and distraught Dom approaches Dante sullenly as the explosion occurs. As Letty’s voiceover plays, Dante advises Dom that he must make a decision regarding whom to save because if she loses him, it will all be for nothing.
Fast X teaser revealed that Dante is the son of drug kingpin Hernan Reyes, who is seeking revenge for the death of his father, which we first saw in Fast Five. Fans were able to glimpse certain scenes from Dante’s point of view in the first teaser, but it is still unclear how much of the story will be retrofitted. Dante, who has spent a lot of time studying Dom, is prepared to exact the ultimate form of retribution by harming his family in the same way that Dom did so unintentionally.
