Cena first appeared in a Fast movie in the role of Jakob Toretto – the brother of Dom Toretto (Vin Diesel) in the blockbuster series. He states that he is willing to accept the notion of coming back to another Fast & Furious film, reprising the role as the latest foil for Dom and his team. This reveal surprises the viewers as Dom has a brother who is a high-tech global fugitive, turning over everything we’ve learned about the story and its characters. upended much of what viewers knew about the Fast franchise and its characters’ histories. As what’s stated, it’s open for the scenario of the WWE star returning back on the F10 set.
The character of Jakob Toretto was retconned into F9 as the estranged brother to Dom and Jordana Brewster’s Mia Toretto, although he had never been mentioned in previous films. The story started with him and Charlize Theron working together, returning as the Cipher – a criminal mastermind, in a plan to take control of the global’s weapons systems. Cena spent the majority of his screen time playing the bad guy, but as being staffed at the back by his cohorts, Cena’s Jakob eventually chose to side with his brother Dom and the team. Similar to Deckard Shaw (Jason Statham), in spite of the dramas at the first two acts, Jakob ended up an ally to the Fast team at the end of the movie, which is optimistic for his future role as a different piece of the story. And it is clear that the actor is more than happy to come back.
His most recent performance, Peacemaker, an HBO Max series, is now on a press tour to be promoted. One of its destinations is Good Morning America, where he was asked by host Michael Strahan whether coming back for the next of the Fast franchise might be good of interest for him. To that Cena replied that he’s eager to return for another film and is basically just waiting for the proposal. The comment of him is as follow:
“I can tell you this: you probably won't see me in Fast 10 dressed like [Peacemaker], but I really hope you see me in Fast 10. I know they're gearing up for production and I would love nothing more than to return to the franchise. I'm a big fan myself.”

It can be seen that Cena is thrilled to continue the storyline of the Fast franchise, but the same can’t be concluded with the rest of the casts. The duo Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Vin Diesel has had a notoriously uneasy relationship since the former’s movies debut in 2011’s – Fast 5. He’s refused to return for Fast 10, despite on the Diesel’s side has had a public attempt to cease the conflict. The other star of the series, Luke Hobbs, also publicly turned down the idea of a sequel spinoff with Hobbs and Shaw.
As the Fast movies grow and are considered to be iconic in both terms of scope and scale, and with his determination is shown, no public petitions are likely to occur to get Cena back in the role. Therefore, it makes sense to continue adding to the Fast & Furious team roster for the future tales. As for now, we have Cena ready for new adventures.
