Fantastic Four is getting a reboot once again. Marvel’s first family continues on the lookout for a new director for the film that will be a part of the fourth phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, after Jon Watts’ departure.

It was formally confirmed at Disney’s Investor Day in 2020 that the Fantastic Four would be receiving a reboot as part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and that Jon Watts, the director of Tom Holland‘s Spider-Man, will be on board. The Fantastic Four remake was forced to continue casting for a new director when Jon Watts announced in April 2022 that he would no longer be involved with the project.

For the Fantastic Four reboot, Marvel Studios has a long list of candidates for director’s chair, including “big names” in the business, according to insiders. Nevertheless, the studio is “not even close” to narrowing down their options, and the process may yet take some more time.
The reboot of Mister Fantastic has yet to be cast, although John Krasinski‘s alternative reality Mister Fantastic on Earth 838 debuted in the MCU in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. There has been no word on whether Krasinski will resume his role as Mister Fantastic from Earth 616 in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
No release date has been set for the Fantastic Four MCU reboot.
