Marvel Studios has officially found its writers to produce the new Fantastic Four movie with Matt Shakman on board as director. Script for the film is reportedly being worked on by Ian Springer and Jeff Kaplan.

Insiders say that the writing team has been detailing how this upcoming series of movies will fit into the Marvel Cinematic Universe with Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige for some time, even before Shakman was chosen as the project’s director. Before beginning to create the script, Kaplan, Springer, and Shakman will now meet together to discuss how they see this project developing. The film is being made by Feige.
Marvel declined to respond.
Shakman’s appointment as the film’s director was revealed by Feige at Disney’s D23 event last month, but he added that at the time, he had no cast information to share with the audience. While the script is being created, Feige and Shakman will now concentrate on casting performers. Since Disney bought Fox and all of its properties, the Fantastic Four has been a much-anticipated movie for fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Since then, fans have been wondering when they will see the next series of movies. At this year’s Comic-Con in San Diego, Feige provided the answer, stating that the movie will serve as the beginning of Phase 6, premiering on November 8, 2024. Avengers: The Kang Dynasty will be released on May 2, 2025, while Avengers: Secret Wars will follow six months later.
With many specifications sold in the previous year, Kaplan and Springer, although being fresh to the market, are one of the hottest screenwriting teams in town. One of these well-known projects is the Warner Bros. comedy Disaster Wedding, for which Palm Springs director Max Barbakow was just hired as director.
