In China, Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets Of Dumbledore has been given the green light for a cinema release. Fantastic Beasts While Where To Find Them, the first film in the series, grossed $86 million in China in 2016, and Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes Of Grindelwald grossed $57.3 million in 2018. All three Fantastic Beasts films, as well as four films in the main Harry Potter franchise, were directed by David Yates.
Despite a significantly lower number of Hollywood studio films being allowed for distribution in China during 2021, according to Deadline, Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore will be Warner Bros.’ third picture to be released in China in 2022. The Matrix Resurrections, which was released in January, and The Batman, which will be released on March 18th, are the two other WB films that have been cleared for a Chinese release. Fantastic Beasts 3 will be released on April 6 in the United Kingdom and April 15 in North America, but no date has been established for China yet. “Magic is coming,” the official WB Weibo account said today, urging followers to “stay tuned.”

Eddie Redmayne, Jude Law, and Katherine Waterston return as franchise regulars in Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore. Meanwhile, Mads Mikkelsen will reprise his role as Grindelwald, which was originally performed by Johnny Depp in the first two films. In the third Fantastic Beasts film, wizard Albus Dumbledore assigns magizoologist Newt Scamander and his companions to a mission that leads them into the heart of the army of dark wizards Gellert Grindelwald.
