Yes, Potterheads, thanks to the latest, exclusive featurette for the highly anticipated “Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore,” we can all return to the enchantment of Hogwarts. While “Fantastic Beasts” is set in the Wizarding World as well, allowing fans of the franchise to delve further into the new narrative of Newt Scamander and his friends, “Secrets of Dumbledore” looks to be set solely within Hogwarts. This is sure to stir up feelings of nostalgia for the castle and its grounds, especially in light of the events depicted in the “Harry Potter” films.
Check out the unique film below, in which the primary cast discusses the legendary sets’ mystical power.
“Secrets of Dumbledore” begins up immediately where “The Crimes of Grindelwald” left off, with a youthful Albus Dumbledore (Jude Law) recruiting Newt and other friends to stop the dark wizard from launching an all-out war on wizards and the No-Maj (or Muggle) people. Dumbledore and Grindelwald had a blood contract, which will be addressed in further depth in the future film (the two were close friends throughout their adolescent years).
The short begins with a sight of the Golden Snitch flying in the air, followed by shots of well-known Hogwarts landmarks including as the Quidditch fields, the Great Hall, and the Room of Requirement. Redmayne, Law, Dan Fogler (who portrays No-Maj Jacob Kowalski), and Callum Turner (who plays Newt’s brother, Theseus Scamander) discuss the allure of these locales and the memories they will conjure for “Harry Potter” fans. For the main characters in the “Harry Potter” films, Hogwarts has always been a safe haven, and many readers/viewers feel exactly the same way about what Hogwarts signifies and means to them.
Jessica Williams, who plays Charms professor Eulalie Hicks and a younger version of Professor Minerva McGonagall, are newer characters introduced in the Fantastic Beasts timeline who speak about Hogwarts in the featurette (Fiona Glascott). The Hog’s Head Inn has also been included, shown in its true dirty, damaged look and serving as the gathering point for Dumbledore’s “First Army.” This is also where Sybill Trelawney’s prophesy came true, and where Harry, Ron, and Hermione met Aberforth Dumbledore, who helped them find safe passage into Hogwarts just as the Second Wizarding War was about to begin.
Mads Mikkelsen, Alison Sudol, Ezra Miller, Victoria Yeates, William Nadylam, Katherine Waterston, Oliver Masucci, Maria Fernanda Cândido, Poppy Corby-Tuech, Richard Coyle, and Valerie Pachner are among the supporting cast members.
“Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore” will be aired in theaters on April 15, 2022.
