The ensemble of the new Dune prequel series from HBO Max and Legendary Television will be led by Emily Watson and Shirley Henderson.

The HBO Max series’ casting for Dune: The Sisterhood has begun with the addition of Emily Watson and Shirley Henderson as Valya Harkonnen and Tula Harkonnen, the two women who founded the Bene Gesserit. The series, which is based on Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson’s 2012 book Sisterhood of Dune, takes place tens of thousands of years before Paul Atreides’ primary character Paul Herbert’s main Dune plot.
Diane Ademu-John is listed as the show’s creator, writer, co-showrunner, and executive producer, while Alison Schapker is listed as the show’s co-showrunner and executive producer. The pilot is being directed by Johan Renck, one of the Chernobyl filmmakers who received great acclaim for his work on the HBO series.
On Dune: The Sisterhood, executive producers Denis Villeneuve, Jon Spaihts, Scott Z. Burns, Matthew King, John Cameron, Cait Collins, and Brian Herbert join the team. As executive producers for the Frank Herbert estate, Byron Merritt and Kim Herbert are also involved in the project. Kevin J. Anderson, the author, is a co-producer.
In October 2021, Denis Villeneuve’s Dune, which he also co-wrote with Jon Spaihts and Eric Roth, debuted in cinemas. Before going on to win six Oscars at the 94th Academy Awards, the movie made $401.8 million at the global box office. A few weeks after the event, the television prequel received official approval.
