In a significant achievement, Sam Raimi‘s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness has soared beyond the $800 million mark at box offices throughout the world.
The Marvel and Disney blockbuster closed Sunday with $803.2 million in international ticket sales, placing it as the No. 2 spot in Hollywood films of the pandemic era behind Spider-Man: No Way Home ($1.89 billion). It did this by beating out the James Bond film No Time to Die ($774.2 million) and The Batman ($768.5 million). Although it was released earlier in the pandemic than the other films, F9: The Fast Saga was the only other picture to break the $700 million mark internationally during the COVID period.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness has whirled up $342,1 million domestically and $461,1 million internationally as of this writing. China has not yet set a release date for the picture, and Disney does not currently plan to distribute any of its films in Russian.
