Doctor Strange 2 seems to get off to a good start since it just achieved the greatest first day of pre-sales for 2022 on Fandango’s website. In a short period of sale time, advance tickets for the eagerly awaited Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness broke the record for the most tickets sold in one day.

The first 24 hours of pre-sales for the Doctor Strange sequel sold more tickets than any other 2022 picture, including the newly released The Batman, and the website witnessed a massive influx of fans reserving their seats, according to Fandango’s early tracking. Doctor Strange 2 is Fandango’s best-selling pre-sale day since Spider-Man: No Way Home went on sale on November 29, 2021.
Doctor Strange 2 outperformed smash hits such as Scream, Uncharted, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, and The Batman. The original Doctor Strange racked up $677 million worldwide, and by considering these first-day sales alone, the sequel may blow that out of the water. With Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness opening the door to an entire Marvel Cinematic Multiverse (full of epic surprises and twists), it comes as no surprise that fans are lining up to get into theaters first, in order to immerse in all the thrills, chills, and blockbuster surprises Marvel Studios first.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, being billed as the first Marvel Cinematic Universe horror film, marks the return of Cumberbatch, who resumes his role as Dr. Stephen Strange. The Scarlet Witch, played by Elizabeth Olsen, who is fresh off of having WandaVision success, will accompany the Sorcerer Supreme this time around. The events of the sequel are supposed to be intertwined with those of WandaVision, Loki, and Spider-Man: No Way Home.
Doctor Strange 2 is set to swoop into cinemas on May 6.
